Getting to Embassy

If you arrive by air at Canberra Airport, a taxi to the Embassy will cost approximately A$ 18.00 or if you arrive by train at Kingston Railway Station, it will cost approximately A$ 12.00 for a taxi to the Embassy. There are also various coach (bus) services from the Sydney and Melbourne to Canberra. Fares vary from Company to Company but are approximately A$ 35.00 on way Sydney/Canberra and A$ 62.00 one way Melbourne/Canberra. It may be advisable to check Bus Company web sites for special rates e.g. http://www.greyhound.com.au

Air fares to Canberra can be expensive but special rate are available if you book well in advance or on the internet.

TRAINS
There are three trains daily from Sydney to Canberra and three return trains to Sydney:

Depart Sydney 11:44 am - Arrive Canberra 3:50 pm
Depart Sydney 6:14 pm - Arrive Canberra 10:21 pm

Depart Canberra 6:45 am - Arrive Sydney 10:55 am
Depart Canberra 12:15 pm - Arrive Sydney 4:24 pm
Depart Canberra 5:15 pm - Arrive Sydney 9:26 pm

ONE WAY SYDNEY/CANBERRA FARE IS A$ 47.30 (as at 6-3-2002)

CAR RENTAL
It is possible to hire a car at Canberra Airport for approximately A$ 61.00 (9am to 5pm) plus a Credit Card or cash deposit of A$ 550.00.
