The Visa forms are in Microsoft Word format and any computer which has MS Word 97 or above installed on their machine can open these files and print them out. These then need to be filled in and sent to Myanmar Embassy in Canberra with the Visa Application Fee and Return Post Envelope.

Overland Entry is permitted for Tourists with visas at Tachileik, Three Pagoda Pass, Myawaddy and Kawthaung Checkpoints along Myanmar-Thai border. Visas must be obtained prior to travel and dates must be supplied.

Please give appropriate time to issue visas (please ensure all information, forms etc. are supplied at time of application). In case of urgency, please contact the Embassy. If these requirements are not followed, the issuance of visas will be delayed.

At present, credit cards cannot be used in Myanmar. It is recommended that you take US$ cash or Euro cash to convert your expenses whilst in Myanmar.

Please allow sufficient time for processing of visa. Visas are issued for a stay in Myanmar of 10 weeks and are valid for entry within three months from date of issue.

NOTE : MULTIPLE JOURNEY ENTRY VISAS – Companies with established long-term ongoing business in Myanmar may apply for a Multiple Journey Entry visa for their personnel, valid for a period of 12 months for as many entries as necessary:

 Notes:

1.   The visa is valid for entry into Myanmar within three months from date of issue. Period of stay is four weeks.

2.   Applications should be sent to Embassy at least four weeks before intended departure from Australia.

3.   In addition to the above requirements, applicants who have not been issued with a Myanmar visa in Canberra before should submit one fully completed MYANMAR LANGUAGE FORM with your original Myanmar Travel Document (Passport or Certificate of Identity) and a copy of your Australian Citizenship Certificate. If you find any difficulties or any queries, please contact the Embassy.

4.   Applicants who have been granted a visa in Canberra previously (since 1991) should complete one 8 question English form in addition to other requirements. If you have a new passport, please photocopy old passport & visa for reference.

5.   If these requirements are not followed in full, the issuance of visas will be delayed.
